Evelyn Bucheit

Evelyn Bucheit, age 98, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 30, 2010, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, with Rev. Allen Vik presiding. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery, Calmar, Iowa, at a later date. Her body was an Anatomical Donation to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is in charge of arrangements. Evelyn Elizabeth (Slebiska) Bucheit, was born on December 28, 1911, in Calmar, Iowa, the daughter of James and Elizabeth (Bouska) Slebiska. Evelyn graduated from Calmar High School in 1929. She married George John Bucheit on November 18, 1930, in Calmar, Iowa. Evelyn worked at Tru-Value Super Market and Bucheit Produce in Calmar, Iowa. Evelyn’s survivors include her daughter: Julia Bronner, Rapid City, SD. Two sons: Floyd (Rita) Bucheit, Chicago, IL, and George (Wyonne) Bucheit, Jr., Fort Atkinson, IA, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. One sister: Irma Slebiska, Aase Haugen Nursing Home, Decorah, IA. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents: James and Elizabeth (Bouska) Slebiska. Her husband: George Bucheit, Sr. in 1967. One sister: Agnes Lane. Three brothers: Arnold, Gerald and James Slebiska.
