Eugene Boyer, age 79, of St. Lucas, Iowa, died on Thursday, December 13, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, of an apparent heart attack. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 17, 2007, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa, with Rev. Marvin Salz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 on Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the St. Lucas Historical Chapel in St. Lucas, Iowa. There will be a rosary at 5:30 pm and a scripture service at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday in the Chapel. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Fort Atkinson, Iowa is in charge of arrangements. Eugene “Gene” Alois Boyer was born on May 12, 1928, the son of Adam and Margaret (Ott) Boyer in St. Lucas, Iowa. Gene attended St. Luke’s Catholic School in St. Lucas, IA. He worked for area farmers and businesses around the St. Lucas area. He enjoyed playing cards, having his morning coffee at the White House in St. Lucas and his nieces and nephews. Gene was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Gene’s survivors include one brother: Dennis Boyer, St. Lucas, IA. Two sisters: Arlene Boyer, Dubuque, IA and Flavia (Norbert) Lechtenberg, Festina, IA. Two sisters-in-law: Connie Woodson, New Hampton, IA and Evelyn Boyer, Calmar, IA, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents: Adam and Margaret Boyer. Four brothers: Leonard, Ray, Andrew and Larry Boyer. One sister: Sister Margaret Boyer, FSPA and one sister-in-law: Maxine Boyer.
