Esther Thompson

Esther Thompson, age 95, of Decorah, IA, died on Friday, April 6, 2012, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, IA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Glenwood Lutheran Church, 1197 Old Stage Road, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Stacey Nalean – Carlson presiding. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Decorah, IA. Friends may call from: 4:00-6:00 p.m., on Monday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, and also after 10:00 a.m., at the church on Tuesday morning. Esther is survived by her daughter: Betty (Jim) Hanson, Decorah, IA. Three grandsons: Dave (Carol) Hanson, Decorah, IA; Doug (Laurie) Hanson, Decorah, IA; and Darryl (friend, Tina Bappe) Hanson, Decorah, IA. Ten great grandchildren: Amanda (Greg) Mueller, Mitchell (Erica) Hanson, Chad (Shelly)Hanson, Jessica (Bill) Gass, Jon (Liz) Hanson, Sara Hanson, Megan and Cody Hanson, Tabitha Smith, and Breanna (Brian) Malanaphy. Eleven great great grandchildren: Dominic, Danika, Austin, Mason, Landon, Bailey, Logan, Gabriel, Mikael, Caden & Kaylee. One sister: Ruth Gay, Sparks, NE. Two sisters-in-law: Marjorie Kraby, Apple Valley, MN; and Helen Rilling, Hillsboro, OR. Esther was preceded in death by her parents: Albert & Mabel (Iverson) Kraby. Her husband: Arnold Thompson on Nov. 18, 1999. One granddaughter-in-law: Karla Hanson on April 15, 2003. Three brothers: Norris Kraby in infancy, Arnold Kraby and Kenneth Kraby. Two brothers-in-law: Mel Rilling and John Gay.
