Esther Hegg

Esther Hegg, age 101, of Decorah, IA died Saturday May 18, 2013 at the Barthell Eastern Star nursing Home in Decorah, IA. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday May 22, 2013 Washington Prairie Lutheran Church at 1725 Washington Prairie Rd. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Esther Theodora (Hoyme) Hegg was born on April 4, 1912, the daughter of Edward and Anna Theodora (Landsrud) Hoyme in rural Decorah, Iowa. Esther was baptized on May 19, 1912, at the Union Prairie Church and confirmed on May 9, 1926, also at the Union Prairie Church. Esther was united in marriage to Ralph Hegg on August 26, 1936, at the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church. Together they farmed and Esther worked at Anundsen’s Publishing (Decorah Posten). She enjoyed gardening, knitting, delivering meals with Lillian Bruvold for many years. She was part of a coffee group at Hardee's. Esther was an active member of the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau. Esther is survived by her son, David (Elaine) Hegg, Calmar, IA. Three grandchildren: Eric and Amanda Hegg, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Lisa and Harley Hague, La Crosse, WI, and Mindy and Imraz Ali, Fiji Islands, and several nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Theodora (Landsrud) Hoyme. Husband: Ralph October 31, 1978 Two sons: Durwin Hegg on Nov. 26, 2001, and Ronnie Hegg January 25, 1945. Two brothers: Norman (Kathryn) Hoyme and her twin, Chris (Adeline) Hoyme. One sister: Signe (Leonard) Ruen.
