Emilie Moudry

Emilie Moudry, age 79, of Spillville, IA, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville, IA. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 25, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA, with Father Donald Hawes presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, June 24, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville with a rosary at 5:00p.m. and a scripture service at 6:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Friday morning at the church. Emilie Mary (Balik) Moudry was born on July 3, 1930, the daughter of Louis and Helen (Puffer) Balik in Spillville, IA. She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and Calmar High School and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Omaha, NE. Emilie married Ervin Moudry on October 12, 1953, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA. Together they farmed west of Spillville, until they retired moved into Spillville, in 1997. Emilie enjoyed baking, cooking, canning, crocheting, reading books, gardening, flowers and above all her family. Emilie is survived by her husband: Ervin Moudry, Spillville, IA. Three daughters: Janet (Lee) Sage, Blaine, MN; Mary Benda (friend, Bill Eichhorst), Swisher, IA; and Noreen Hageman, Luana, IA. One son: Dean (Connie) Moudry, Spillville, IA. Eight grandchildren: Julie Sage, Mazomanie, WI; Jennifer Roberts, Sarasota, FL; Michelle Benda, Denver, CO; Heather Moudry, Cedar Rapids, IA; Brian Moudry, Spillville, IA; Megan Moudry, Spillville, IA; Melissa Hageman, Luana, IA and Tami Hageman, Luana, IA. One brother: Jim (Mary) Balik, Waterloo, IA. Two sisters: Lorraine (Fritz) Bily, Omaha, NE and Anna Mae Wiest, Richardson, TX. Sister-in-law: Betty Balik, Cresco, IA. Emilie was preceded in death by her parents: Louis and Helen (Puffer) Balik. One sister: Genevieve (Robert) Pesek. Three brothers: George (Lorraine) Balik; Edward (Helen) Balik and Louis Balik. One brother-in-law: Linus Wiest. One sister-in-law: Charlene (Skretta) Balik.
