Eleanor Seegmiller

Eleanor Seegmiller, age 99, of Decorah, IA, died on Saturday, December 2 2017, at the Barthell O.E.S Home in Decorah. There will be no formal services for Eleanor. Eleanor Braa Seegmiller was the widow of Gillmer Seegmiller. She is survived by their two children, Julie (John) Braaten and Steven (Deborah) Seegmiller. Her sister: Bonnie Braa Warrington of Decorah. Five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Eleanor was born August 1, 1918 in Canada to Pastor Henry and Ethel Braa. She graduated from Gale College in Galesville, Wisconsin. She married Gillmer Seegmiller in October 1940. Following his return from service in World War II they lived in Decorah, Iowa. They enjoyed genealogy, square dancing and together wrote the book Decorah, City of Springs. Eleanor was a wonderful mother, active in Decorah Lutheran Church and worked at several businesses in Decorah including KDEC. Her ashes will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her family in attendance.
