Elaine Frana

Elaine Frana, age 86, of Festina, Iowa, died on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah, IA. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa. The family requests that everyone attending please wear a mask and social distance. A private funeral mass will be held at a later date. service can be watched at www.youtube.com/user/frbobgross Elaine Catherine Frana was born on November 28, 1934 in Festina to John and Linda (Scholbrock) Kipp. Elaine attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from the Calmar Public High School in 1953. Elaine married Stanley Frana on August 2,1954 at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina. During their courtship they spent many nights dancing at the Inwood Ballroom and enjoying movies at the Calmar Theater. She worked at the Palmer Memorial Hospital in West Union as a CNA. Elaine also worked at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Festina as a cook. She also did many years of daycare which she loved dearly and was known as “Grandma E”. Elaine’s hobbies included gardening, crossword puzzles, sewing and attending polka fests. Elaine also loved cooking for her family. She truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elaine was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina and a member of the Rosary Society. Elaine is survived by her daughters: Darcy (Dave) Huinker, Decorah, IA and Darlys (Bob) Lynch, Decorah, IA. Sons: Darwin (fiancé; Becky Olson) Frana, St. Olaf, IA and Darryl (Karen) Frana, Calmar, IA. Grandchildren: Trevor (Linnea) Huinker, Travis Huinker, Brett (Kelly) Vick, Darren (Destyn) Vick, Andy Frana, Ali Frana, Keegan (Dan) Luzum, Zak Kriener and Mak (Hanna) Kriener. Great grandchildren: Jonah and Greta Huinker, Colton Vick, Alyce and Landon Vick, Kenley Falck and Rylen Luzum, Kaislee Kriener. Sisters-in-law: Georgina Frana and Lois Frana. Brother-in-law: Marc Frana. She was preceded in death by her husband: Stanley Frana. Parents: John and Linda (Scholbrock) Kipp. Brothers: Donald (Marie) Kipp and Vern (Toni) Kipp. Brother and sister in infancy. Father and mother-in-law: Adolph and Otilia (Pecka) Frana. Brothers-in-law: Leonard, George (Marie), Adolph (Janice), Art, Jerome, Ermin (Wilma), Julius (Sonja). Sisters-in-law: Martha, Viola and Monica Frana.
