Eileen Gerth, age 54, originally from Decorah, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City after a battle with cancer. 

Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Helms Funeral Home, 306 E. Water Street, Decorah, Iowa, with Deacon Nick Francios presiding. Burial will follow at St. Benedict Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at Helms Funeral Home. Rosary will start at 8:40 a.m.

Eileen requested all family and friends attending her memorial to honor her love for 80's rock music and wear a favorite rock band t-shirt.
