Edna Margaret Sandberg

Edna Margaret Sandberg, age 90 of Decorah, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah. Family graveside services will be held at a later date at Winnebago Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lake Mills, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa is in charge of the arrangements. Edna Margaret Sandberg was born December 9, 1915 on the family farm in Mt. Valley, Township, Winnebago County, Iowa, the daughter of Ole and Anna (Peterson) Thune. She was baptized and confirmed at Winnebago Lutheran Church, rural Lake Mills, Iowa. She attended country school and Waldorf Academy in Forest City, Iowa Margaret was united in marriage to Harold Sandberg in 1940. He preceded her in death. She worked at General Mills in Minneapolis, MN for twenty years and retired in Tampa, Florida in 1974, where she enjoyed her flowers and garden. She became a resident of the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah in 1998. Survivors include two nieces, Carolyn (Del) Fure of Decorah, IA, Monica (Maurice) Hutson of Byron, MN; three nephews, Allan (Pat) Strom of Rochester, MN, John (Connie) Strom of New Hampton, Iowa and Phillip (Jean) Thune of Manley, IA. and several great nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold; three brothers, Gisle Thune, Austin Thune, Carl Thune; and a sister, Wilma Strom.
