Edna J. Fisher

Edna J. Fisher, age 90, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home in Decorah, Iowa, following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2007, at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home with Rev. Gene Hermeier, from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Locust officiating. Burial will be in the Locust Cemetery. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah and after 1:00 p.m. at the Nursing Home on Monday afternoon. Edna Jeanette (Severson) Fisher was born on May 20, 1917, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Stoskopf) Severson in Winneshiek County, Iowa. Edna attended Pleasant #5 rural school and graduated from Decorah High School in 1935. Edna married Norman Fisher on August 9, 1939, at St. John’s Parsonage in Locust. Edna lived on a farm all her life; helping with farm work, growing a garden and flowers. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Locust for many years. She enjoyed ladies aid, making quilts and teaching Sunday School. Edna’s greatest joy was her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edna’s survivors include her husband, Norman Fisher, Decorah, IA. One daughter: Betty (Larry) Priske, Cedar Rapids, IA. One son: Dennis (Marcia) Fisher, Decorah, IA. Four grandchildren: Lynn (Robert) Gibson, Gilbert, AZ; Kim (Chris) Peach, Hudson, NH; Brian Fisher, Des Moines, IA and Manda Fisher, Des Moines, IA. Eight great grandchildren: Joe, Michael and Andrea Peach; Cameron & Shelby Gibson; Madilyn, Gracie and Cora Fisher. Three sisters-in-law: Marjorie Severson, Decorah, IA; Erlene Fisher, Decorah, IA and Doris Hegtvedt, Iowa City, IA. One brother-in-law: Roger Danielson, Burr Oak, IA and several nieces and nephews. Edna was preceded in death by her parents. Three brothers: Leonard, Everett and Sylvan. Four sisters: Clarissa Danielson, Lillian Stoskopf, Violet Styve and Evelyn Severson in infancy. Edna was a very special lady, who always had a smile for everyone and was just a joy to be around.
