Dr. Jeffrey John Swella

Dr. Jeffrey J. Swella, age 38, of St. Petersburg, Florida and formerly of Decorah, IA., died Saturday, October 30, 2004 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 5, 2004 at Decorah Lutheran Church by the Rev. James Glesne. Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah. Visitation is on Thursday, November 4, 2004 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and an hour prior to the services on Friday at the church. Dr. Jeffrey John Swella was born July 22, 1966 in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Dr. Eugene J. and Adeline (Pfister) Swella, Sr. He graduated from Decorah High School with the Class of 1985. During his high school years, he was active in band and a member of the golf team. He graduated from Luther College in 1989. While at Luther, Jeffrey was a Resident Assistant for two years and he was a member of the golf team. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1994. He was recipient of awards recognizing outstanding achievements in clinical diagnosis and x-ray. Dr. Swella worked as a Chiropractor in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania and St. Petersburg, Florida. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, working on the computer and the Green Bay Packers. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Eugene J. Swella, Sr. on March 24, 2002, his paternal and maternal grandparents, two nieces, one nephew and one uncle. He is survived by his mother, Adeline Swella of St. Petersburg, Florida; a brother, Dr. Eugene J. (Dr. Dianne) Swella, Jr. of Yucca Valley, CA.; two sisters, Dr. Rebecca (Robert) Smedsrud of Decorah, IA. and Jacqueline (David) Kinsinger of Buffalo, IA.; a daughter, Victoria Jade Swella; three nieces, Rachael Swella Smedsrud, Meghan Swella and Mariya Swella; two nephews, Robert and Eric Smedsrud.
