Dorothy E. Welch

Dorothy E. Welch was born March 16, 1923, in Fargo, ND, the daughter of Olaf and Tilla (Thoraldson) Anderson. She was a 1940 graduate of Moorhead High School. She was united in marriage to Paul V. "Peck" Welch on October 5, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio. This union was blessed with two daughters, Georgiann & Terrie. Dorothy worked in women's retail for many years and was a dress buyer for Blacks' Department store. She was an avid sport's fan and her hobbies in later years were sewing, and doing cross word puzzles. Dorothy passed peacefully away on Friday, October 30, 2009 in Hospice care at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul "Peck" on November 9, 2006; and by her great-grandson, Nathan Eckheart in July, 1995. Dorothy is survived by her two daughters: Georgiann (Doug) Eckheart and Terrie Brooks all of Decorah, IA: five grandchildren: Janee (Ross)Anderson of Washington, IA, Paul (Elaine) Eckheart of Spring Valley MN, Sara (Chad) Morton of Boone, IA, Kyle (Lynda) Eckheart of Glenwood, IA, and Justin Brooks of San Pedro, CA: 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Her wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Wellington Place in Decorah IA.
