Dorothy F. Seim

Dorothy F. Seim, age 90, of Decorah, Iowa, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Aase Haugen Home in Decorah following a short illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah by Rev. Steven M. Jacobsen with burial in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, one hour before services, at Fjelstul Funeral Home. Dorothy Faye Seim was born July 12, 1917 in Clermont, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin and Lucy (Hills) Conner. She was a graduate of Clermont High School. Dorothy had three children while married to Alfred O. Rear: Ronald B. Rear, Nancy D. Savoy and Benjamin F. Rear. She was married to Charles D. Seim on June 17, 1956 in Preston, MN. Dorothy had worked for many years in Decorah for Lloyd Rash Accounting Agency as a bookkeeper and for KDEC radio station. She was fond of spending time with her family. She loved animals and had dogs and cats for pets, the latest being Cara the cat. She was a Hawkeye and Cyclone fan, Bulls and Packer fan. Dorothy became a resident of Aase Haugen Home in May. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles on July 18, 1982; son, Benjamin on August 5, 1981; step grandson, Gary Lifka; and two sisters: Bette Bohr and Margaret Wagner. She is survived by one son, Ronald B. (Audrey) Rear of Decorah, IA; one daughter, Nancy D. (Jerry) Savoy of Santa Barbara, CA; one daughter-in-law, Lorraine Rear of Decorah, IA; seven grandchildren: Liane (Chuck) Kroemer of Marion, IA, Lisa Rear of West Des Moines, IA, Laurie (Frank) Benjamin of Ft. Dodge, IA, Linda (John) Power of Story City, IA, Leslie (Dan) Holmes of Waukee, IA, Hilary Savoy of Portland, OR, Heather (Andre) Miller of Portland, OR; two step grandsons: Gale (Betty) Lifka of LaCrosse, WI and Gene (Charity) Lifka of Austin, MN; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren; and 3 nephews.
