Dorothy Huinker

Dorothy Huinker, age 78, of St. Lucas, Iowa, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at the Traditions Assisted Living in West Union, Iowa, after a short illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 15, 2008, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa, by Father David Beckman. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Monday after 9:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Chapel in St. Lucas. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. Dorothy’s survivors include her husband: Eugene Huinker, formerly of St. Lucas, IA, and now residing at Traditions in West Union, IA. Her children: Arnie (Marilyn) Huinker, Lakeville, MN; Jane (Jerry) Bentley, Calmar, IA; Kaye (Chuck) Bassett, Cedar Rapids, IA; and Kurt (Dawn) Huinker, St. Lucas, IA. Ten grandchildren: Jess Bentley, Marshall, MN; Kristin (Mark) Olmstead, Lakeville, MN; Josh (Kristi) Bentley, Wyoming, IA; Kari Huinker, Lakeville, MN; Jordan Bentley, Calmar, IA; Bryan Huinker, Lakeville, MN; Jacob Bentley, Calmar, IA; Sloan and Seth Huinker, St. Lucas, IA and Alex Bassett, Cedar Rapids, IA. Two great grandchildren: Tatem Galloway and Tylan Bentley, Wyoming, IA. One sister: Kathleen Marlow, Cresco, IA and one sister-in-law: Josephine Huinker, Ossian, IA, along with many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur and Katherine Sharp. One sister: Ruth “Boop” Thompson in 1999. Two sisters-in-law: Judy Huinker and Evelyn Molumby. Five brothers-in-law: Luther Thompson, Lavern Huinker, Joe Huinker, Walter Marlow and Jim Molumby.
