Doris Hegtvedt

      Doris Hegtvedt, age 96, of Iowa City, IA, formerly of Decorah, IA, died on Monday, March 27, 2017, at Melrose Meadows Assisted Living, Iowa City, IA.        Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2017, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Allen Vik presiding.  Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery, Decorah, IA.        Visitation will be held after 9:00 a.m., on Saturday morning at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah.        Doris is survived by her son, Raymond (Carole) Hegtvedt, Iowa City, IA, and her daughter: Janet Alfonso, Madison, WI. Two grandchildren: Joe Alfonso (Tasha), Queens, NY, and Angela Alfonso (Matt), Frederick, MD. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law:  Vicki Houck, Westerville, OH, and sister-in-law, Erlene Fisher, Decorah, IA. Close friends, Mary Wenmen and Sue Pearson, both of Iowa City, IA, Lorna Nicholson, Maricopa, AZ and Godchild, Betty Priske, Cedar Rapids, IA, and also several nieces and nephews living in the Decorah area.        Doris was preceded in death by her parents: Fred and Louise Fisher; her husband, Raymond Hegtvedt in 1981; her son, Dr. Arden Hegtvedt in 1993; sons-in-law: Joe Alfonso in 2003 and Doug Wadsworth in 2016, brothers, Lloyd Fisher in infancy, Harold Fisher, Norman Fisher, Arlin Fisher and Robert Fisher.
