Donna Youngblood

Donna Youngblood, age 79, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, with Rev. Bryan Robertson presiding. Burial will be in the Freeport Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Wednesday morning. Donna Mae (Olson) Youngblood was born on February 19, 1932, the daughter of Elute Eugene and Anna Marie (Askelson) Olson, in Orleans Township, rural Decorah, Iowa. Donna attended school in Decorah and Freeport. She moved with her family to Baker, Montana, where she graduated from High School in 1951. She attended summer school at Luther and returned to Baker, Montana and taught rural school for one year. Donna once again attended Luther College and then went on to teach in the Lee Country School in Glenwood Township. Donna married Norice Youngblood on December 22, 1956, at the Methodist Church in Decorah. She then stayed at home and was a busy mother; raising ten children. Her hobbies included cooking, baking and gardening. Donna was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church. Donna’s survivors include her husband, Norice Youngblood, Decorah, IA. Ten children: Susan (Wayne) Carlson, Dubuque, IA; Edward Youngblood, Fort Sill, OK; Luann (Ross) Moen, Cresco, IA; Mary (Richard) Church, Cedar Rapids, IA; Tom (Kristine) Youngblood, LaCrosse, WI; Rebecca (Brad) Cavett, Williamsburg, IA; Harold (Dawn) Youngblood, Marshalltown, IA; Christine (Bruce) Bohr, Ossian, IA; John Youngblood, Decorah, IA; and Patricia Youngblood, Cedar Rapids, IA; along with thirty-four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Two sisters: Elsie (Douglas) Dennison, Bellevue, WA; and Gloria (Ping) Askin, Baker, MT. Donna was preceded in death by her parents: Elute Eugene and Anna Marie (Askelson) Olson.
