Donna Severson

Donna M. Severson, age 86, of Decorah, died Tuesday evening, December 19, 2023, after suffering an acute stroke at her home. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Donna Mae (Vine) Severson was born March 24, 1937, at home in rural Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Alert and Gladys (Moen) Vine. She was united in marriage to Leonard R. Severson, who she met while working at the Sugar Bowl in downtown Decorah as a teenager. She and Leonard were married at Decorah Lutheran Church on January 17, 1954. She and Leonard made their home in Calmar, Iowa where she first worked providing in-home childcare for many years, then transitioned to work at Northeast Iowa Community College with a team she loved. She enjoyed visits with family and friends, trips to Decorah, and making cookies with her grandchildren. Donna is survived by her children: Ron (Sue) Severson, Alan (Pam) Severson, Robin (Marty) Andera and Todd (Leah) Severson, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alert and Gladys Vine; two brothers, Ardell and Bud Vine; three sisters, Phyllis Olson, Betty Bruening and Grace Bolson; her husband Leonard; daughter, Loretta; sons Jim and Jeff.
