Donald Hackman

Donald Hackman, age 63, of St. Lucas, IA, died on Monday, December 12, 2016, in St. Lucas, IA. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2016, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 307 East Main Street, with Rev. Kyle Digmann presiding. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 17, 2016, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 307 East Main Street, St. Lucas, IA. Donald William Hackman was born on May 30, 1953, the son of Alvin and Bernice (Hageman) Hackman in New Hampton, IA. He attended St. Luke’s Catholic School and graduated from Turkey Valley High School in 1971. Donnie did carpentry work, sold feed and Badger Farm Equipment and loved farming. Donnie was united in marriage to Kaye Finholt on August 31, 1974, at Canoe Ridge Lutheran Church, rural Decorah. Donnie was an independent contractor for the Waterloo Courier for many years. He enjoyed farming, camping, playing cards and bowling. He was the secretary of the Men’s Bowling Association in West Union for many years and made 35 consecutive trips to the National Bowling Tournament. He had five 300 games in his bowling career. Donnie was a former St. Lucas fireman and a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. His greatest love was for his family, whom he dearly loved and cared for and his three little granddaughters. Donnie is survived by his wife: Kaye Hackman, St. Lucas, IA. One daughter: Holli (Cory) Cannon, West Union, IA. One son: William Hackman (Stephen Wells), Atlanta, GA. Three granddaughters: Clara, Emma and Ellie Cannon. His mother: Bernice Hackman, St. Lucas, IA. Brothers and sisters: Duane (Dwana) Hackman, Waverly, IA; Janet (Jack) Borseth, Decorah, IA; Alan (Gail) Hackman, West Union, IA; Mary Lee (Peter) Roth, Dubuque, IA; Loren (Lisa) Hackman, Woodbine, IA; and Alvin (Dede) Hackman, Jr., Lawler, IA. Brother-in-law: Robert Finholt and wife Liz Calvert, Littleton, CO. Sister-in-law: Keri Freienmuth, Excelsior, MN, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Donnie was preceded in death by his father: Alvin Hackman on April 5, 1993. His father-in-law and mother-in-law: Chester Finholt in 2004 and Barbara (Quanrud) Finholt in 1994. One sister-in-law: Beth Rocksvold in 2000.
