Donald Haberkorn III, age 28, of Oelwein, IA, died on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Grandview Healthcare Center in Oelwein, IA. “Heavens gates have opened, my beloved son has risen from his chair and walked through the gates of Heaven”. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 117 W. Greene Street in Castalia, IA with Rev. Darrel Schlultz presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Donald Walter Haberkorn III was born on February 2, 1993 the son of Donald Haberkorn Jr. in Waukon, IA. He graduated from Decorah High School in 2011. Donnie worked at Aase Haugen Senior Services, Spectrum Network and KVIK where he was known as “Hot Rod Donnie”. He enjoyed drawing, painting and working on his art projects. He loved Nascar and demolition derbies. Donnie especially loved seeing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his father: Donald Haberkorn Jr. (June Poznanski) of Castalia. Brother: Travis (Liz) Haberkorn and their daughter: Bella. Sister: Victoria (Jamie Maly) Haberkorn. Aunt: Jody (Mike) Gruber and their son: Ricky Hopkins Jr. Uncle: Casey Meyer. Grandmother’s: Mary Lou Haberkorn and Susie Haberkorn. Foster mother: Karen Ehde. Donald was preceded in death by his grandfather’s: Habby Haberkorn Sr. and Kenny Bruhn. Grandmother: Nancy Meyer. Great grandparents: Kenneth (Ernestine) Schultz.
