Dolores Mcconnell

Dolores McConnell, age 83, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Sunday, November 11, 2007, at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah. Burial will be in the St. Benedict's cemetery in Decorah. Friends may call from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah. Dolores June McConnell was born on June 25, 1924, the daughter of Sigard and Martha (Cameron) Holm on the family farm north of Decorah. Dolores graduated from Decorah High School in 1942. Dolores married Leo McConnell on January 7, 1946. Dolores farmed with Leo and also worked at the Winneshiek County Court House, North Winn School and at the Aase Haugen Nursing Home over the years. She enjoyed dancing with Leo and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, crafting, going to garage sales, antiquing and making trips to Fort Dodge. Dolores was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. Dolores’ survivors include her children: Michael (Bonnie) McConnell, Belvidere, IL; Martha (Richard) Bailie, Ft. Dodge, IA; Gerald (Rita) McConnell, Decorah, IA; Randy (Susie) McConnell, Decorah, IA; Debby (Butch) Helgeson, Canton, MN and Cam (Lyndon) Lee, Mabel, MN. Thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo in 1979; two sons: William in infancy; and Danny in 1966; one daughter: Becky in 1976; Uncle and Aunt: Arthur & Caroline Morrison.
