Debbie Steine

Debbie Steine, age 52, of New Hampton, IA, formerly of Decorah died on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at her home in New Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Dave Sorenson presiding. Burial will be at a later date at the Prosper Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave, in Decorah, IA and also after 10:00 a.m., at the Church on Saturday morning. Debbie Lorraine (Tollefsrud) Steine was born on August 23, 1965 the daughter of Lawrence and Rhea (Rongley) Tollefsrud in Caledonia, MN. She attended Mabel-Canton High School graduating in 1983. After high school, Debbie attended Hubert Humphrey College and earned a degree as a CNA. She married Garry Steine on June 23, 1985 at the Mabel Methodist Church. Together they had three children: Heidi, Donald and Taylor. They later divorced. Debbie worked at Mayo, Deco, Transit, McNeilus, and an assortment of nursing homes around the area. She enjoyed camping, cooking, baking, shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Debbie is survived by her three children: Heidi (Brandon) Biddle, Tripoli, IA; Donald (Cortney) Steine, Alta Vista, IA and Taylor (Tori Gebert) Steine, New Hampton, IA. Fiancé: Daniel Paul Block. Five grandchildren: Dylyn, Makayla and Ayden Biddle, Payten and Kneila Steine. One great-grandchild: Phoenix. Her parents: Lawrence and Rhea (Rongley) Tollefsrud, Mabel, MN. Siblings: Doreen (Bruce Sr.) Dahl, Decorah, IA, Diane (Darby) Cook, Ossian, IA; Dawn (Shane) Erlandson, New Hampton, IA; Denise (Nick) Bollweg, New Vienna, IA; Don (Diane) Tollefsrud, Canton, MN and Dustin (Kayla) Tollefsrud, Mabel, MN along with several aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her niece: Brianna Dahl in 2006. First cousins: Chayne Tollefsrud in 2008 and Beth Peterson in 2017. Grandparents: Clair and Leta (Wilbur) Rongley and Truman and Beth (Morrison) Tollefsrud.
