Dean Frye

Dean Frye, age 52, of Decorah, IA, died on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street, Decorah, IA. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family in memory of Dean. Dean Stephen Frye was born on May 9, 1965 the son of Gary and Geraldine (Rilling) Frye in Decorah, Iowa. He graduated from Decorah High School in 1983. After High School, Dean worked as the manager of Hardees in Decorah before being transferred to manage the Hardees in Menomonie Falls, WI. He moved back to Decorah and worked at Don Johnson’s Standard Service. Dean married Lauri Larson on August 9, 1986 at the Madison Lutheran Church. Together they had two children: Kayla and Kyle. They later divorced. Dean later worked for Bills Auto Repair and Decorah Chevrolet. He most recently worked for Malcolm Enterprises in Decorah. Dean loved to hunt and fish, camping, motorcycles, his dogs and spending time with his grandchildren. Dean was a jokester and always made people laugh. Dean is survived by his children: Kayla (Matt Frana) Frye, Cresco, IA and Kyle (Hannah Fahey) Frye, Decorah, IA. Grandchildren: Madisyn Frye, Evan and Lydia Frana. Fiancé: Barb Curtis, Decorah, IA. Parents: Gary (Geraldine) Frye, Decorah, IA. Sister and brother: DeAnn (Marty) Kuehner, Decorah, IA and Dan (Tracy) Frye, Decorah, IA. Nieces and nephews: Nick Kuehner, Amanda Kuehner, Jade Frye and Logan Frye. His dog: Donnie. Dean was preceded in death by his grandparents: Glenn (Rosie) Rilling and Kenneth (Helen) Frye. Uncle: David Frye.
