David "Mickey" Bulgren

David “Mickey” Bulgren, age 81, of Fort Atkinson, IA, died on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2013, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel in Fort Atkinson, IA, with Deacon Jim Zajicek presiding. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Fort Atkinson, IA. Friends may call from 3:00-6:00 p.m., on Sunday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, Chekal Chapel in Fort Atkinson, IA, and also on Monday morning after 9:00 a.m. David Dean “Mickey” Bulgren was born on August 30, 1932, the son of Russell and Agnes (Pavlovec) Bulgren in Fort Atkinson, Iowa. Mickey graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1951. He served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1961, aboard the USS Kleinsmith. Mickey worked for the Monona Public School System from 1979-1998. He retired and returned to Fort Atkinson. Mickey served on the Fort Atkinson City Council for two four year terms. It was always his goal to keep Fort Atkinson a clean and good city. Mickey enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, going to local stock car races, visiting and going out to eat with friends. Mickey is survived by his daughter: Deb (Tim) Vondersitt, Calmar, IA. Two grandchildren: Anthony (friend, Alyssa Nelson) Vondersitt, Protivin, IA, and Allison (Chris) Busch, Ossian, IA. Four great grandchildren: Derek, Avery and Nora Busch and Mason Vondersitt. One brother: Robert (Marion) Bulgren, Cedar Falls, IA. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents: Russell and Agnes (Pavlovec) Bulgren. One brother: Dale Bulgren in 1997.
