David H. Flaskerud

David H. Flaskerud, age 73, formerly of Calmar, Iowa, died on Friday, May 18, 2007, at the Howard County Regional Hospital in Cresco, Iowa, following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at the Calmar Lutheran Church, with Rev. Norman Bauer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites by the Halverson - Giesen American Legion Post #266. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Tuesday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements. David H. Flaskerud was born on June 30, 1933, the son of K. Henry and Kitty (Hjelmeland) Flaskerud in Calmar, Iowa. David graduated from Calmar High School in 1951. He served in the US Army as a paratrooper. He helped farm on the family farm north of Calmar for many years and also worked for a tree trimming service. David’s survivors include his sister: Margaret (Ed) Jaster, Rockwall, TX. Two nieces: Jacquelyn (Brian) Bangen, Coon Rapids, MN and Jennifer (Michael) Sanders, San Antonio, TX Four great nieces and nephews: Andrew and Abigail Bangen and Madisen and Meghan Sanders. David was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Richard A. Flaskerud in 2006.
