David Bergan

David Bergan, age 72, of Garnavillo, IA passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, IA with Rev. Jeff Hanson presiding. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. The Schluter-Balik Funeral Home is handling arrangements. David Eugene Bergan was born on December 11, 1946 the son of Freddy and Selma (Jaastad) Bergan in Decorah, IA. He was raised on a farm outside of Ridgeway, IA until his family moved to Ridgeway in 1975. In 1998 they moved to Glenwood, IA where he lived until 2002. On March 14, 2002, David moved into G&G in Guttenberg, IA where he lived with five housemates. Later the home was changed to Imagine the Possibilities. David enjoyed riding horses, going to Camp Courageous, Special Olympics, shopping and going out to eat. David is survived by his brother: Bill (Helen) Bergan, Ridgeway, IA. Sister: Katherine Bergan, Riceville, IA. Nephews: Richard (Cathy) Bergan, Cresco, IA and Michael (Kristi) Bergan, Chillicothe, MO. Great nephews: Cody (Whitney) Bergan, Trevor Bergan, Brady Bergan and Bryce Bergan. Great Niece: Madison Bergan. Great-great nieces and nephews: Kaiden, Brooklyn, Arianna and McKennah. He was preceded in death by his parents: Freddy and Selma (Jaastad) Bergan.
