David Bakke

David William-Swanson Bakke, age 31, passed away in San Diego, CA on May 16, 2018.  He was found by one of his friends.  David also had said that he was a better spirit than an earth person. He kept in touch with his family in Postville by Facebook.  David was a 2005 graduate of Decorah High School.  He left for San Diego to attend cooking school and worked at several high name restaurants, also serving the California governor and famous actors and actresses. He became a well liked chef for the governor. David made many friends where he lived and worked.  David was the son of Cathy Bakke. He is also survived by Rafael and Jamee Xiya and their three children Dylan, Joseph, and Gabriella; and Lewis and Cathy Blair and their son Brayden. He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Bakke in July 2015; his grandparents; and many aunts and uncles. David was very close to his sister Jamee and he spoke with her often. There will be a private family service at Phelps Cemetery in Decorah.
