Darrell Wenthold

Darrell L. Wenthold, age 73, of Decorah, Iowa, passed away peacefully Monday, August 10, 2020 at Osage Rehab and Health Care Center in Osage, IA. Services and then burial at Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah will be held at a later date. Darrell Leo Wenthold was born on March 7, 1947 at Smith Memorial Hospital in Decorah Iowa to Felix William Wenthold and Margaret (Hackman) Wenthold. Darrell grew up on the family farm. He attended Grade School and High School at St. Francis de Sales in Ossian Iowa, graduating from high school in 1965. Darrell was inducted into the United States Army on July 28, 1966 and was Honorably discharged on July 26, 1968. Darrell was employed with Bruening Rock Products of Decorah and then Wiltgen Construction of Calmar until his retirement. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Christina “Tina” A. (Beard) Chilcote on May 7, 1977 in Decorah. They were blessed with one son, Dennis, who was the apple of his eye. He was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Margaret Wenthold, and his wife “Tina” on March 14, 2010. Darrell is survived by his son Dennis Wenthold of Osage; his siblings, Don Wenthold of Decorah, Kathleen (Conrad) Kriener of Ft. Atkinson, IA, Jean Wenthold of Davenport, IA, Elaine (William) Ness of Atlanta, GA and Marilyn (Steve) Courtney of Decorah; and his step-children: Gary (Roxanne) Chilcote, Grant (Michelle) Chilcote, Kelly (Rick) Andorf and Kristy (Chris) Wrage.
