Darlyne Stoen

     Darlyne Stoen, age 83, of Decorah, IA, died on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse, WI.      Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA, with Rev. David Sorenson presiding. Burial will be in the Freeport Cemetery, Decorah, IA.      Friends may call after 10:00 a.m., on Thursday morning at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home.      Darlyne Lou Yvonne (Bolson) Stoen was born on August 4, 1930, the daughter of Martin Clifford and Emma Clarissa (Vick) Bolson in Waukon, IA. Darlyne moved to the Decorah area with her family and attended the Drake Glenwood #2 Country School, Decorah High School and later receiving her GED. Darlyne was united in marriage to Raymond Stoen on May 29, 1948, at the home of Rev. B.A. Johnson in Decorah. Darlyne worked as a nurse’s aide, at the Green Parrott, Wapsie Produce, Deco and Northern Engraving, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed doing cross-stitch and quilting, making quilts for all of her children and siblings. She was well known as a wonderful cook and baker; making delicious breads and cinnamon rolls. Darlyne was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.      Darlyne is survived by her four children: Peggy (Soren) Larsen, Marshfield, ME; Robert Stoen, Cresco, IA; Kathy Stoen, Decorah, IA; and Kyle (special friend, Kathy Tobin) Stoen, Decorah, IA; along with six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. One sister: Beverlyne (Tyrome) Albertson, Cresco, IA. One brother: Gaylen (Elaine) Bolson, Decorah, IA. Two sisters-in-law: Ila Bolson, Platteville, WI, and Thelma Ellingson, Decorah, IA. One brother-in-law: Herbert Stoen, Decorah, IA, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.      Darlyne was preceded in death by her parents: Martin Clifford and Emma Clarissa (Vick) Bolson. Her husband: Raymond “Ray” Stoen on March 23, 2014. Her son: Gregory Stoen on June 9, 1969. Her father and mother-in-law: Henry and Martina (Sollien) Stoen. One brother: Don Bolson. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Sophus Stoen, Polly Stoen, Kathryn Stoen, and Erven Ellingson.
