Daniel “Duke” Schrandt, age 54, of Cresco, IA formerly of Spillville, IA, died Monday, October 21, 2013 at his home in Cresco, IA, Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville with Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 Friday, October 25, 2013, at the Balik Funeral Home, 211 South Main Street, Spillville and also after 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the church. Dan Duke Schrandt Memorial Fund has been established at 2885 Bluffton Rd. Decorah Iowa 52101 Duke’s survivors include his mother: Mary Lou (Leo) Manning, Lansing, IA. Four brothers: Mike (Rita Dixon) Schrandt, Decorah, IA, Tim (Cheryl Murray) Schrandt, Ridgeway, IA, Bill Schrandt, Decorah, IA and Peter (Sandra) Schrandt, Cambria, WI. Three sisters: Marty (Clint) Berg, Decorah, IA, Becky Schrandt Miles, Decorah, IA and Pam (Rick) Barnes, Waukee, IA. His step-mother: Norma Schrandt, Cedar Falls, IA. Nieces and nephews: Terri (Jay) Dankert, Tricia (Dan) Fisher, Kyle Berg, Josh Schrandt, Cody Schrandt, Tyler (Shelly) Kopriva, Dylan (Susan) Kopriva, Sullivan, Clayton, Cooper, Simon and Olive Schrandt. Ten great nieces and nephews, eleven step-brothers and sisters as well as aunts and uncles. Duke was preceded in death by his father: William Schrandt in 2007. One niece: Ashley Schrandt. Grandparents: Theodore “Dick” and Magdaline (Geising) Schrandt and James and Dorothy (Marlow) Malanaphy.
