He was a student of Decorah High School and was prepping himself for Engineering at Iowa State University. Dalton was an active individual in all aspects of his life. He enjoyed being on the farm and worked hard helping with farming activities, and one of his prized possessions was his grandpa Hemesath’s JD 4020 that he drove in many parades and events. He was very active in the FFA, involved with judging livestock and soil competitions earning numerous awards. He was proud of his accomplishment becoming District Officer and President of the High School Chapter and was praised for his public speaking. He was competitive and strived for perfection and applied this to most everything trying, and succeeding most times, to outdo his older brothers and setting the bar for the youngest brother. Dalton was a member of the National Honor Society with a goal of maintaining a 4.0 GPA upon graduation. He enjoyed woodworking, expanding his collection of tools and completed numerous projects including those of advanced difficulty and skill. Dalton was social and had numerous friends within and outside of his school district. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the “hick house”: a granary he remodeled into a cabin with family and friends, kayaking, playing bags, bonfires, camping, snowmobiling, and listening to country music or what he considered to be real country music (classic country by today’s standards). Dalton will be remembered for his quick wit and the ability to make those around him smile and laugh. Dalton is survived by his parents: Matt and Mary (Courtney) Hemesath. Brothers: Braden Hemesath, Randy (Elaine) Hageman, and Russell Hageman. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Alphonse and DeEtta Hemesath; Ruth and Lawrence Courtney. Uncle: Kevin Courtney. Aunt: Karen Courtney.
