Dale McCormick, age 59, of Decorah, Iowa, died on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at the Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah, Iowa. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2010, at the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Decorah, IA, with Father Phillip Gibbs presiding. Burial will be in the St. Benedict Cemetery, Decorah, Iowa. Friends may call from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010, at the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 307 West Main St., Decorah, IA, and after 9:30 a.m., at the church on Saturday morning. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that memorials may be given in memory of Dale to the Dale McCormick Memorial Fund, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA 52101. Dale Allen McCormick was born on September 29, 1951, the son of Joseph and Adeline (Waller) McCormick in Decorah, Iowa. Dale attended and graduated from Decorah High School in 1969. He started working in the fall of 1969, at the new CamCar factory, where he was a key player in the development and growth of that plant as a premier fastener supplier to customers in all markets globally. Dale’s calling was Sales Management where he excelled as a mentor to the sales force. The Electronics industry was his specialty and he traveled extensively around the world to recruit, train and advise the sales force and factories in addition to successfully selling specialty fasteners to customers including Seagate, Western Digital, Motorola, RIM, and Nokia. His loss is being mourned by competitors, colleagues and customers around the world. At the time of his death, Dale served as Vice President of Global Electronics at Infastech. Dale was united in marriage to Jule McCabe on September 16, 2004, in Harper’s Ferry. Dale was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church and Oneota Golf Course. Dale enjoyed golfing, spending time on the River, collecting cars and being with his family and friends. Dale’s survivors include his wife: Jule McCabe, Decorah, IA. One daughter: Erin McCormick, Chicago, IL. Two sisters: Carol (Carsten) Quam and Joyce Gates, both of Decorah, IA. Two brothers: Donald (Pat) Decorah, IA, and Kenneth (Mary) McCormick, Clear Lake, IA. His father and mother-in-law: LeRoy and Marcella McCabe, Waukon, IA. Four sisters-in-law: Helen McCormick, Decorah, IA; Jean (Pearse) Derrig, LaCrosse, WI; Joann (Chris Hirayama) McCabe, Hilo, HI; and Nancy McCabe, Denver, CO. Two brothers-in-law: Bill (Jan) McCabe, Kingwood, TX and Dan (Renee) McCabe, Augusta, GA. Three aunts: Mary Waller, Poynette, WI; Sister Mary Dorothy McCormick and Sister Mary Louis McCormick, both of Dubuque, IA, along with many nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Dale was preceded in death by his son: Kyle McCormick on May 26, 2003. His parents: Joseph McCormick on Aug. 27, 1965 and Adeline McCormick on Jan. 12, 2007. One brother: Jerry McCormick in 1992. One nephew: Terry McCormick in 1978. One brother-in-law: Lyle McCabe in Oct. 2004 and one sister-in-law: Mary McCabe in June 1996.
