Dale Lundy

Dale Lundy, age 78, of Decorah, IA, died on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave, in Decorah. A private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Springwater Cemetery later this spring. Dale Robert Lundy was born on June 15, 1940 the son of Walter and Gladys (Olson) Lundy near Springwater, rural Decorah. He attended Springwater Country School. After finishing school, Dale helped on the family farm as well as working at the Decorah Greenhouse with his mother. He married Norma Barth on November 29, 1959 at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah. They had two daughters: Suzanne and Krisanne. Together Dale and Norman ran the A&W Root Beer stand in Decorah. After selling the business they moved to Cedar Rapids where Dale worked for Linkbelt. Upon returning, Dale worked at Schutte Floor Covering in Postville for a short time before starting Fashion Floor in Decorah. Dale sold the business and retired in 2002. After retirement, Dale and Norma bought and sold many houses in Decorah. They enjoyed going to rummage sales to find things to decorate with. Dale and Norma also enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Lansing and wintering together in Florida. Dale loved to trout fish and spent many days fishing the stream near the hatchery in Decorah. Dale is survived by his children: Suzanne (Lyle) Taylor, Spring Valley, MN; Krisanne (Craig) Nelson, Rochester, MN. Grandchildren: Michael, Nicholas and Megan Taylor and Alexis Nelson. Brother: Duane Lundy, Des Moines, IA. Brothers-in-law: Daryl (Shelley) Barth, Jacksonville, FL; Duane Barth, Lansing, IA; and Terry (Julie) Barth, Decorah, IA. Nieces and Nephews: Andrea Barth, Sara (Brad) Anderson, Kari (Kurt) Muchow, Richelle Halverson, Dana (Mark) Carolan, Brent (Jill) Halverson and Joel (Cyndi) Halverson. Dale was preceded in death by his wife Norma on August 7, 2017. Parents: Walter and Gladys (Olson) Lundy. Sister: Donna Halverson. Father and mother-in-law: Grant and Vivian Barth. Brothers-in-law: Otis, Gary and Glen Barth.
