Cynthia Phillips

August 18, 1946 — January 25, 2023

Cynthia A. Jirak Phillips peacefully passed away surrounded with family bedside Wednesday, January 25, at Winneshiek Medical Center after a 5-year battle with COPD. There are no formal services planned for Cynthia at this time. Memorials may be directed to the family at: 600 Strawberry Point Road, Elkader, IA 52043 The family would like to thank the staff at Winneshiek Medical Center for all of their care and support. Cynthia was born August 18, 1946, to William and Alice (Chapman) Jirak. She was the oldest born of 5 children. Cynthia attended school at St. Johns in Fort Atkinson, and Turkey Valley, with finally getting her GED through NICC. Cynthia married David Phillips on April 11,1965. Cynthia had many hobbies with crocheting being her favorite. She was proud of her yarn collection. Cynthia is survived by her brother Steven Jirak and wife Cheryl, sisters, Leathia Siewert and Rita Hollenbeck, sister-in-law, Cindy Blue and husband Jim, and brothers-in-law, Roger Phillips and wife Marsha, Raymond Swatek, Danny Jo Swatek and wife Connie, and Jimmy Dale Swatrk and wife Pam. As well as too many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews to list. She loved them all and was always ready for a hug. She is preceded in death by her husband, David Phillips, parents, William and Alice Jirak, mother-in-law, law Erma Swatek, brother, Clifford Jirak, and brothers-in-law, Larry Phillips, Marlyn Siewert, and Roger Hollenbeck. Cynthia loved to help people and will be greatly missed.
