Curtis Spilde

     Curtis Spilde, age 70, of Decorah, IA, died on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, IA.       A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street, Decorah, IA, with Rev. Dave Sorenson and Rev. Bryan Robertson presiding.       Friends may call after 10:00 a.m., at the church on Wednesday morning.      Curtis Duane Spilde was born on May 23, 1944, the son of Leonard and Florence (Engen) Spilde in Decorah, IA. Curtis attended Decorah Community Schools. He worked for Bolson Feeds, Camcar and for Wapsie Produce. He was married to Darlene Anderson in Decorah and they later divorced. Curt loved his dogs, going for walks, and riding his bicycle. He loved going to the Depot to get a “good deal” or “bargain”. He also enjoyed the races, where he recently had a very proud moment, watching his grandson, Kyle win his race. Curt was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church.      Curtis is survived by his two daughters: Dawn (Matt) Teslow, Waukon, IA, and Cheryl (Brad) Thompson, Cedar Rapids, IA. His special dog, Sparky. Four grandchildren: Kyle (fiancé Crystal Rauk) Anderson, Joshua (Trina Bloxham) Anderson, Hannah Teslow, and Brandon Teslow. Three great grandchildren: Jaxon, Tila and Braxton Anderson. Three step-grandchildren: Lauren (Jeff) Morris, Sara (Greg) Carson, and Matt Thompson. Five step-great grandchildren: Drew, Jeremy, Remy, Claire and Logan. Ten brothers and sisters: Lil (Wayne) Schmieden, Waterville, IA; Bill (Nancy) Spilde, Decorah, IA; Al (Marge) Spilde, Minneapolis, MN; Robert “Bob” (Karen) Spilde, Decorah, IA; Jim (Sharon) Spilde, Cresco, IA; Les (Shirley Hageman) Spilde, Decorah, IA; Darlene Ellingson, Ridgeway, IA; Wanda (Paul) Watts, Belvidere, IL; Ione (Don) Nesteby, Decorah, IA; and Wes (Deloris) Spilde, Belvidere, IL.    Curtis was preceded in death by his parents: Leonard and Florence (Engen) Spilde, one brother: Francis (Carol) Spilde in 1968 one sister: Judy Engen in 1972.
