Craig Hunt age, 58 of Decorah, Iowa died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 13, 2010, at the Pulpit Rock Campground in Decorah, Iowa, with Jan Gluth – King presiding. All are asked to bring a lawn chair and salad and bars to share after the service. Friends may call from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2010, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah, Iowa. Memorials given in memory of Craig may be sent to Pulpit Rock Campground, 505 Pulpit Rock Rd., Decorah, IA 52101. Craig Robert Hunt was born on February 29, 1952, the son of Robert and Barbara (Bishop) Hunt in Decorah, Iowa. Craig graduated from Decorah High School in 1970 and the University of Iowa in 1974, with a degree in Political Science. He worked on the Presidential campaign trail for Fred Harris. In 1975, Craig returned to Decorah and started working for the City of Decorah, alongside his father at the Pulpit Rock Campground and the NorSki Run for many years. Craig enjoyed watching NASCAR Races and college football games, especially the Hawkeyes. Craig is survived by his wife: Sue Macal, Decorah, IA. His father: Robert Hunt, Decorah, IA and one brother: David Hunt, Tipton, IA. Three step-sons: Mitch Cornelius, Platteville, WI; Marty Cornelius, Waterloo, IA; and Shelby Cornelius, Decorah, IA. His father and mother-in-law: Melvin and Nancy Macal, McGregor, IA. Craig was preceded in death by his mother: Barbara Hunt on March 4, 2008 and his grandparents.
