Corey James Buchheit was born on September 6,1962, the son of Ambrose and Dolores (Langreck) Buchheit. Corey attended St. Luke’s Catholic School and graduated from Turkey Valley in 1981. After graduation he worked locally until his enlistment in the United States Army. He served in Germany from 1982 to 1985. After his service he attended Hawkeye Tech, studying mechanics. Corey was united in marriage to Sherry Wurzer on September 21, 1991 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas, Iowa. From this union, Jude Marie and Corey John were born. Corey was a jack of all trades, a handyman at heart. Corey was known for his ability to fix anything (and was jokingly referred to as our MacGyver). He loved being and working outside, much like his dad. He also had an innate sense of artistry and meticulous attention to detail, just like his mom. One of Corey’s loves was metal work; he saw a purpose in all things and could make beautiful creations from the smallest pieces found on the farm. Corey was the proud owner of Buchheit Metal Creations and spent many summers attending art shows in the tri-state area. Corey also loved being a long haul semi-driver. He had an incredibly strong work ethic and gave one hundred and ten percent into everything he did. First and foremost Corey loved his family. Just when he thought he couldn’t love deeper, he became a grandpa to Cora Marie on April 3, 2021 and found that the love of a grandchild is like no other. Corey is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sherry Buchheit, St. Lucas, Iowa. Two children: Jude (William) Kuehner, Ankeny, Iowa; Corey John Buchheit, Ankeny, Iowa. One granddaughter, Cora Kuehner, Ankeny, Iowa. His mother, Dolores Buchheit, St. Lucas, Iowa. Three siblings: Randy (Dee Farrell) Buchheit, Cresco, Iowa; Kristin (Creig) Pehl, Cedar Falls, Iowa; and Bruce (Lois) Buchheit, Lawler, Iowa. His mother-in-law, Margaret Wurzer, St. Lucas, Iowa. Seven siblings-in-law: Wayne (Diane) Wurzer, Solon, Iowa; Lauren Wurzer, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Don (Jo) Wurzer, La Crosse, Wisconsin; Jan McCune, Las Vegas, Nevada; Jeannie (Bill) Springer, Vinton, Iowa; Leon (Dawn) Wurzer, Toddville, Iowa; and Lloyd (Janice) Wurzer, West Union, Iowa. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Ambrose Buchheit. Father-in-law, Francis Wurzer. Sister-in-law, Sally (Hoey) Wurzer. Brother-in-law, George McCune. Nieces, Hannah and Haley Buchheit.
