Cole Hamilton, age 22, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Decorah, IA, died on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at his home in Colorado.A memorial service for Cole will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the Stone Ridge Community Church, 1111 Montgomery Street in Decorah with Pastor Matt Larson presiding.Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the Church. Please do not send flowers. Memorials may be made in Cole’s memory to the Decorah Football Program.  Decorah High School100 Claiborne Dr.Decorah, IA 52101Attn: Football ProgramCole Ryan Hamilton was born on August 30, 1996 in Manchester, IA the son of George and Denise (Simmons) Hamilton. He graduated from Decorah High School in 2014. Cole played on Decorah’s last state championship football team. He enlisted in the United States Army in March of 2015. Cole married Claire Nelson on December 19, 2015 in Fredericksburg, IA. He was sent to Fort Riley, KS and deployed to Korea in November of 2016 through June of 2017 as a Calvary Scout. He then returned to Fort Riley before being transferred to Fort Carson in Colorado in the spring of 2018 where he was stationed until his passing. Cole enjoyed working out, sports, target shooting and had dreams to travel and see the world.Cole is survived by his father: George Hamilton, Decorah, IA. Mother: Denise Hamilton, Forreston, Ill. Brothers: Jesse, Aaidon and Cameron. Sister: Shay’na Knutson. Grandfather’s Ervin Bugenhagen and Gregg Mudore. Step-mother: Marcia Boberg. Niece: Amelia Ford.
