Clementine C. Kinkor, age 85, of Calmar went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30a.m., Monday, April 29, 2013, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, in Calmar, Iowa with Rev. Donald Hawes and Msgr. Carl Schmitt co-presiding. There will be visitation an hour before service at the church. Private burial of ashes will be in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 2:00-5:00 p.m., on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 202 South Washington St., Calmar, IA. There will be a prayer service at 3:00 p.m., and a rosary at 4:00 p.m., on Sunday. Friends may also call after 9:30 at the church on Monday morning. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Kinkor Family at P.O. Box 65 Calmar, Iowa 52132. Clementine was born to Victor and Clara (Vorderbrueck) Schmitt on December 28, 1927 on a farm near St. Lucas, Iowa. She attended and graduated as a salutatorian from St. Luke's High School. Upon graduation in 1945, Clementine worked at the New Hampton Hospital, Loras College and then as a hired girl for several families in the St. Lucas area. Norman met Clementine, the best thing that ever happened to him, at the Inwood Ballroom in Spillville, Iowa. On April 8, 1953, Clementine was united in marriage to the love of her life Norman J. Kinkor at St. Luke Catholic Church, in St. Lucas. Clementine enjoyed working on the family history. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, friends and caring for others. In her spare time, she collected stamps and did a lot of reading. She lived her life helping others. Clementine was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and was an honorary member of the Rosary Society. She was member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rural Letter Carrier Auxiliary for over 50 years. In later years, she was a member of the Winneshiek, Fayette and Howard County Historical and Genealogy Societies. Clementine is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Marti Peterson) Kinkor of Eastham, MA, Ronald (Deb) Kinkor of Wichita, KS, Roger (Maureen McGarry) of West Des Moines, IA, Randall (Diana) Kinkor of Brooklyn Center and one daughter Karen Kay Kinkor of Calmar. survived by five loving grandsons: Michael, Chris, Mitch, Mack and Ben; several nieces and nephews that were very special to her. She is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Dorothy Schmitt of Dubuque and Joan Kinkor of Naples, FL. Clementine was preceded in death by her parents: Victor and Clara Schmitt and her uncle Tony. Her husband, Norman on May 30, 1982. Her brother Florian Schmitt in 2008. One nephew, Gary Schmitt. Two brother-in-laws: Donald and Clifford Kinkor. The family would like to thank Cedar Valley Hospice for the wonderful care of Clementine before she went home to be with the Lord.
