Cheryl A. Grinna

Cheryl A. Grinna, age 70 of Decorah, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, April 28, 2015 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. A celebration of Cheryl’s life is scheduled for 12 Noon, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Nob Hill Supper Club in rural Decorah. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life with stories, pictures, and music that was special to her. A private memorial service will be held for family members, preceding the celebration event. Cheryl "Graham Cracker" Grinna (nee Lundt), was born on March 18, 1945 in Postville, Iowa to Harold and Betty Lundt. Cheryl was confirmed at Calmar Lutheran Church in Calmar, Iowa. She graduated from Decorah High School with the class of 1964. Cheryl married John Grinna on June 4, 1966 at Decorah Lutheran Church in Decorah. This union was blessed with three children: Scott, Stacey and Steven, over the next 11 years. Cheryl also opened their home to provide lodging and support to several young adults over the years, who remember her kindness and generosity in the time they spent with her. Cheryl worked most recently at McDonald’s in Decorah, Iowa, up to her retirement. Cheryl enjoyed her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, all of whom spent many happy days with her, being lavished with her repertoire of silly songs, play, and love. In recent years, Cheryl also spent time with her kindred spirit, Sheila Iverson, playing cards and visiting Sheila’s north woods cabin. Cheryl was passionate about endlessly re-decorating her home, her house plants, flower gardening, knitting, bird watching, and shopping tirelessly in pursuit of the great deal. Cheryl is survived by her mother, Betty Lundt of Decorah; husband John Grinna; children, Scott (Amy) Grinna of West Bend, WI, Stacey (Collin) McElree of Decorah and Steven (Lisa) Grinna of Decorah; her siblings, Mark Lundt of Decorah, Linda (Lorraine) Kalke of Decorah, Lauren (Diana) Lundt of Mindoro, WI and Kim Sickles of Decorah; and 10 grandchildren: Kelsey Grinna, Abigail Grinna, Kjersten Grinna, Gunnar Grinna, Anika Grinna, Cooper McElree, Mack McElree, Evan Buechel, Colin Buechel, and Nolan Buechel. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Harold Lundt, brother Christopher Lundt, nephew Matthew Lundt, nieces Heather and Elizabeth Wilkins, and her dear friend Sheila Iverson.
