Charles “Charlie” Coffey, age 74 of Decorah, Iowa passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at his home in Decorah. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Iron Ridge Church - 512 9th St. SW, Waukon, IA, 52172. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday morning at the church. Charles “Charlie” Coffey was born July 17, 1949, in Grinnell, IA. He was adopted by Carl and Helen (Broadston) Coffey. Charlie was baptized at the Montezuma Methodist Church, and later graduated from Montezuma High School with the class of 1967. He then went on to graduate from UNI in 1973 with a degree in Economics and Sociology. Charlie met the love of his life, Debra Stanton, and married her on December 31, 1975. To this union, three sons were born: Ryan, Joseph, and Matthew. Charlie spent many years working for the Iowa Department of Human Services in the child protection department. Charlie had many interests including photography, hunting, and traveling, but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and expressing his faith through the Iron Ridge Church in Waukon. He was able to give back to his fellow mankind by going on a missionary trip to Haiti. Left to cherish his memory: His wife of 47 years, Debra. Three sons; Ryan (Colleen) Coffey, Joseph Coffey, and Matthew (Hayley) Coffey, and grandson Cassius Coffey. Charlie was proceeded in death by his parents.
