Cathy Wilkins

Cathy Wilkins, age 49, of Decorah, Iowa died suddenly on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the Winneshiek Medical Center, Decorah, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Glenwood Lutheran Church, Decorah, Iowa with Rev. Susan Debner officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood East Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Monday morning. Cathy Marie (Rude) Wilkins was born on August 1, 1955 the daughter of Curtis and Martha (Sollien) Rude in Decorah, Iowa. Cathy attended North Winneshiek school. She married Loren Wilkins on August 4, 1975 at the Highland Lutheran Church. Together they farmed and she raised their children. Cathy worked for Wapsie Produce for several years and then took care of her mother-in-law, Marion Wilkins, until she entered the nursing home last fall. Cathy enjoyed playing cards, reading, listening to Alan Jackson music, doing word searches, talking on the phone, shopping for her grandchildren and she especially loved her family and her grandchildren. Cathy was a member of the Glenwood Lutheran Church, the Joy of Hope Circle and was a Sunday school teacher. Cathy’s survivors include her husband, Loren Wilkins, Decorah, IA. Three daughters: Dawn Zweibohmer & fiancée Jason Schierholz, Luana, IA; Marcia and Robin Wilkins both of Decorah, IA. Two sons: Henry Wilkins & Renae Erickson, Ridgeway, IA and Justin Wilkins & friend Marissa Sellner, Decorah, IA. Eight grandchildren: Caitlin, Ronnie, Julia, Chase, Elena, Curtis, Hailey and Austin. Her parents, Curtis and Martha Rude, Decorah, IA; Two sisters: Karen Jermeland & husband Joel, Decorah, IA and Deb Stortz & husband Dean, Mabel, MN and several nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-laws. Cathy was preceded in death by her two grandsons: Jonathan Zweibohmer and Anthony Schierholz; her grandparents: Johannes & Dora Sollien and Julius & Olga Rude.
