Carroll Jacobson

     Carroll Jacobson, age 90, of Decorah, IA, died on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah.      Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 17, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA.      Burial will be in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, IA, with Rev. Matt Larson presiding.       Carroll Wayne Jacobson was born on January 7, 1924, to William and Maude (Pierce) Jacobson, on the family farm near Burr Oak, IA. Carroll graduated from Canton High School on May 28, 1942. Carroll farmed all of his life, tending to cows, chickens, and hogs, later reducing the farm to just cows. He enjoyed dancing every Tuesday night at Nob Hill, daily visits with his friends at the Family Table Restaurant, as well as family time. Carroll had a wonderfully amazing memory. He loved to read (especially biographies), and everyone enjoyed listening to his stories, both old and new. If you ever wanted to know of any event that took place years ago, you could just ask Carroll. He enjoyed and closely followed all sports, especially baseball. His favorite team was the Detroit Tigers.       Carroll is survived by his great niece: Diana Wood, Decorah. Several great, great nieces and nephews. His “little peanut” great, great, great niece Neveah, and other several great, great, great nieces and nephews, along with several cousins, Also a man who meant the world to Carroll: Arthur Schmelzer and his wife Rhonda, Burr Oak, IA. Carroll was preceded in death by his parents. Half Brother: Frank Reed. Niece: Rosalyn Lee. And his special love of fifteen years, Nancy Dolan.       Memorials may be sent to Diana Wood, 605 Center Ave, Decorah, IA, 52101.
