Carolyn Spilde, age 73, of Decorah, Iowa, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Highlands after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Helms Funeral Homes, 306 E. Water Street, Decorah, Iowa, with Pastor Rafael Cruz presiding. Burial will follow at Phelps Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Helms Funeral Home, 306 E. Water Street, Decorah, IA. There will be no visitation prior to the service on Tuesday. Please come in and be seated.

Carolyn Elaine Spilde (known as Cadog to her family) was born in Decorah on September 2, 1952 to Gavin L. and Esther L. (Brandt) Spilde. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1971. In 1978, Carolyn began her career in the tool room at CamCar Textron until December 2025. Carolyn enjoyed sports, watching the local high school teams, and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes attended several games. Carolyn enjoyed the outdoors and taking care of her flowers, roses and vegetable garden. Carolyn enjoyed Women's Weekend out in Decorah, which was an annual event with her sister. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her family, going out to eat, and celebrating the Nordic Fest, which was a huge highlight. Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her Golden Retriever, Hannah, and German Shepherd Rhemi. Above all, she loved Jesus, and her faith was very important to her. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

She is survived by her Mother, Esther L. Spilde; her brother, Larry Spilde; and her sister, Marian (Gary) Kuhn. Aunt Joyce Brandt. Nephews/nieces, Bryan (Laura) Spilde, David (friend Sheryl) Spilde, Brad Spilde, Josh (friend Barb) Spilde, Alex (Sarah) Spilde. Rebecca Swopes (friend Dennis) and Matt Kuhn. Great nieces/nephews Micah, Chiam, Aliyah, and Zachary Spilde. Noah and Rachel Spilde. Molly, Sadie, and Hadley Spilde, Joziah and Gloria Swopes.
