Carol Mincks, Sr.

Carol “Red” Mincks, Sr., age 83, of Calmar, Iowa, died on Sunday, October 17, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2010, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, IA, with Rev. Galen Smith presiding. Burial will be in the Calmar City Cemetery, Calmar, Iowa. Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa. Carol is survived by his eight children: Virginia (Robert) Bodensteiner, Elkader, IA; Mike (Judy) Roethler, Cedar Falls, IA; Carol (Shannon) Mincks, Jr., Ridgeway, IA; Deb (Jerry) Henderson, Ridgeway, IA; Clarence (Kulla) Mincks, Decorah, IA; Robert Mincks, Calmar, IA; John (Deb) Mincks, Elgin, IA; and Melanie Mincks, Greenville, NC, along with thirty-eight grandchildren and forty great grandchildren. Two sisters-in-law: Marge Mincks and Gladys Mincks, both of Decorah, IA. Carol was preceded in death by his parents: Lycurgus E. and Arabelle J. (Perkins) Mincks. One son: Jerry Mincks in infancy in 1953 and one daughter: Marsha Greenslade on Aug. 4, 1975. Two grandchildren: Travis Holthaus in infancy and Sarah Mincks on Oct. 4, 2004. One sister: Gladys (Clarence) Haugen. Six brothers: Robert Mincks, Dick (Loretta) Mincks, Cecil (Sandy) Mincks, Allen Mincks, Ivan (Mary) Mincks, and Leslie Mincks.
