Carol Dvorak, age 72, of rural Ridgeway, IA, died on Friday, June 10, 2016 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, IA, with Rev. Robert Gross presiding. Burial will be in the Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00p.m., on Monday, June 13, 2016, at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville, and after 9:00 at the church on Tuesday. Carol Marie (Spande) Dvorak was born December 3, 1943, to Milton and Beulah (Ramlo) Spande of Mabel, MN. Carol graduated from Mabel High School in 1961 and she attended beauty school in Mankato, MN. She worked in Winona, MN, Donlon Drug Store in Decorah and then went to Rochester, MN, where she worked at a Beauty Shop. Carol was united in marriage to Dave Dvorak on October 22, 1966 in Rochester, MN. They moved to Cresco and she worked at the Crown Beauty Shop and at the Hovden Grocery Store in Ridgeway until it closed. In 1969, they moved to their farm near Ridgeway and Carol helped alongside her husband. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, refinishing furniture, going to garage sales, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also known to love her sweets. In 1985, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Carol is survived by her husband: David Dvorak, Ridgeway, IA. Three children: Chris (Melinda) Dvorak, Ridgeway, IA; Kail Dvorak, Onalaska, WI; and Jilaine (Roumel) Reynon, Plainfield, IL. Five grandchildren: Samuel, Alexus, Breanna, Sophia and Lillian Dvorak. Two brothers: Albert (Sue) Spande, Onalaska, WI, and Donald Spande, Newberg, MN. One sister: Bonnie (David) Henkels, Worthington, MN. Sister-in-law: Diane Juve, Decorah, IA. Carol was preceded in death by her parents: Milton and Beulah (Ramlo) Spande. Her father and mother-in-law: Leonard and Genevieve (Hovden) Dvorak. One brother-in-law: Dennis Juve.
