Brian Scott Phillips

Brian S. Phillips, age 32, of Burr Oak, Iowa, died Monday, September 24, 2007 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI of injuries sustained in an auto accident. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 28, 2007 at Burr Oak Lutheran Church by Rev. Matthew Larsen with burial in Union Prairie Cemetery in rural Decorah. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday September 27, 2007 at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah and after 9:30 A.M. Friday at the church. Brian Scott Phillips was born December 25, 1974 in Decorah, Iowa, the son of Beverly Boice and Lyle Phillips. He was baptized at Decorah Lutheran Church and confirmed at Burr Oak Lutheran Church. Brian graduated from North Winn High School with the Class of 1993. He married Stacy Rollins in 1995 and they were later divorced. He married Sara Daniels in 2003 and they were later divorced. Brian had formerly been employed by Steve Falck Construction in Decorah, S.C.I. in Ossian and was currently working for DeBuhr & Casper Plumbing and Heating in Waukon. Brian enjoyed life to the fullest and his daughters were very important to him. Horses were his big love in life. He enjoyed rodeo roping and the outdoors including hunting and fishing. He was a very caring, lovable man who had many friends. He always tried to be there for a friend who was in trouble or needed help. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose heart he touched, especially his close family. In death, Brian gave the gift of life as an organ and tissue donor. Survivors include his two daughters, Kayla Phillips and Stephanie Phillips of Mabel, MN; his mother and stepfather, Beverly Phillips and Darin Nelson of Burr Oak, IA; his father and stepmother, Lyle and Cathy Phillips of Bluffton, IA; three sisters, Laurie Phillips (Wayne Metcalf) of Eldorado, IA; Brandee (Kyle) Larson of West Union, IA and Devin Marie Nelson of Burr Oak, IA; a brother, Loren (Elana) Phillips of Decorah; his maternal grandmother, Laura Boice and paternal grandmother, Maxine Phillips, both of Decorah; a stepson, Eric Daniels of Hesper, IA; several nieces and nephews, Trevor Teslow, Kylie Metcalf, Lucas Phillips, Casey Phillips, Ashlyn Phillips and Audrey Larson and a new nephew due to join the family in December; several great aunts, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dean Boice; paternal grandfather, Bill Phillips; and two uncles, Ron Moen and Dennis Benson. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Brian’s memory.
