Brad Engeldinger, age 43, of Spring Grove, MN, died on Sunday, January 27, 2013, as a result of an automobile accident near Dorchester, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church, 1381 Big Canoe Road, Decorah, IA, with Rev. David Andreae presiding. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Avenue, Decorah, IA. Bradley Young Engeldinger was born on July 23, 1969, the son of Harvey Young and Sharon Lynn (Rickabaugh) Engeldinger in Dubuque, Iowa. Brad graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines in 1987. He attended Mankato State University in Mankato, MN, for two years and then the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA, graduating in 1996. Brad had a great love of music and began playing the drums when he was seven years old. He played with several band such as “High and Lonesome” and “Dave Zollo and the Body Electric”. Brad was playing with Dave Zollo during the Grand Excursion in Lansing in 2004, when he met Julia Emery. They were married on Oct. 8, 2005, at her parents’ home near Highlandville, IA. Together they had two children: Emmet and Ruby. Brad loved spending time with his children and family, anything associated with the Iowa Hawkeyes, as well as fishing and trout fishing in Northeast Iowa. Brad was currently working at Gemini in Decorah. Brad is survived by his wife: Julia Engeldinger, Spring Grove, MN. Three children: Hunter Erickson, Emmet and Ruby Engeldinger, Spring Grove, MN. His mother: Sharon (Dan) Tourville, Mesa, AZ. Two nephews: Trae and Troy Engeldinger, both of Des Moines, IA. Father and mother-in-law: Steve and Laurie Emery, Decorah, IA. Sisters-in-law: Jenn (Adam) Bair, Rochester, MN; Jodi Emery, Rochester, MN; and Jill (Nile) Lienau, Highlandville, IA. Brother-in-law: Albert Emery, Highlandville, IA. Niece and nephews: Henry & Ella Bair and Raymond & Earland Lienau. Brad was preceded in death by his father: Harvey Young Engeldinger on January 23, 1992. His brother: Shawn Engeldinger in Oct. 2010, and Shawn’s wife, Penny in Oct. 2011.
