Bonnie Warrington, age 94, of Decorah, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Emplify Health in West Union, Iowa.
Bonnie will be laid to rest with Hal at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
No Formal services will be held.
She was born in Northfield, Minnesota to Rev. Henry T. and Ethel (Fisher) Braa.
She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and attended Luther College in Decorah. She married Harold Warrington in 1952, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. Their son David John was born at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.
Bonnie earned an AA degree from Phoenix College, attended Arizona State University, and graduated from Radford College in Virginia with a Master's Degree in Art Education.
In 1964, Hal's job as a programmer with General Electric took them to South Africa for a field assignment at ISCOR steel mill. They toured much of the country during their 9-month stay. Following that experience, Bonnie worked as a travel agent. After moving back to Phoenix, she worked at America West Airlines in Flight Operations.
Bonnie was active in church work, taught the Bethel Series, and the Search study. The couple enjoyed getaways at a cabin in northern Arizona that they built themselves,
They retired to Florence, Oregon, and lived in a house designed by Hal. Bonnie was a member of the Florence Arts and Crafts Association, serving as president for two years.
Their second retirement home was in Osage, Iowa, in 2004. After the death of her son and husband, Bonnie moved to Decorah and wrote her memoirs in a book titled Serendipity Doesn't Knock: Answer the Door Anyway.
She was active in church activities and served three terms as president of the Luther College Women's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David, and sister Eleanor
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Darlene (Stewart) Warrington, and a niece and nephews.
