Beverly Whittle

Beverly Whittle age 76, of Decorah, IA, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at her home outside of Decorah. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Decorah, IA. With Rev. Donald Hertges presiding. Burial will be in the St. Benedict Cemetery in Decorah. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Schluter-Balik Funeral Home, 604 South Ave in Decorah and also after 10:00 a.m. at the church on Friday morning. Beverly was born March 15, 1945 in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Reuben and Luella (Nagel) Stock. She attended Waukon schools and graduated in 1963. She married Gary VanVliet and together they had four children; Aaron, Lea Ann, Eric, and Suzanne. They later divorced. While living in Florida, Bev worked at Honeywell. When she returned to Iowa, Bev worked for Rockwell, Wellington Place as a Medical Aid, and at Wal-Mart in the card section. On May 7, 1983, Bev married Larry Whittle at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, IA. Together they ran the farm for many years. Bev always enjoyed being outside working on her flowers and gardening. She liked taking pictures, socializing with friends and family, and also staying in touch with her many friends on facebook. Bev and Larry enjoyed traveling. Together they traveled to New York, National parks out West, and multiple trips to Las Vegas. Bev is survived by her husband: Larry Whittle. Children: Aaron Whittle, Decorah, IA, Lea Ann VanVliet, Decorah, IA, Eric VanVliet, Decorah, IA and Suzanne (Ron) Rowe, Whitehall, MT. Grandchildren: Gary, Matthew, Colt, Ryder, Max, Abe, and Joshua. Brother: Roger (Linda Manning) Stock, Waukon, IA. Brothers-in-law: Gary (Carol) Whittle, Harpers Ferry, IA and Alan (Carmen) Whittle, Decorah, IA. Sisters-in-law: Eileen (John) Curtain, Lansing, IA and Bonnie (Ray) Wagner, Lansing, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Luella (Nagel) Stock. Father and Mother-in-law: Virgil and Claire (Heatly) Whittle.
