Beverly Thuente

Beverly “Bev” Thuente, age 52, of Bloomington, MN, formerly of Festina, IA, died on Sunday, June 4, 2006, after a courageous battle of three years with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2006, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa with Monsignor Cletus Hawes. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and on Thursday morning until 10:30 a.m. at the Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel in Calmar, Iowa. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a scripture service at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday. Beverly Alma Thuente was born on September 29, 1953, the daughter of Virgil and Irma (Winter) Thuente in Decorah, Iowa. Bev attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Festina and graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1971. She attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City and graduated as the class Valedictorian. She moved to Minneapolis and worked at insurance companies until her health forced her to quit. Bev enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards, playing softball and camping. She especially enjoyed her nieces and nephews. Bev is survived by her parents: Irma and Virgil Thuente, Festina, IA; sisters and brothers: Norma (Gary) Eckhardt, West Union, IA; Merle (Donna) Thuente, Calmar, IA; Vern (Sandy) Thuente, Decorah, IA; Doralee Thuente, New Hope, MN; Virgil (Joanne) Thuente, Jr., Decorah, IA; John (Sharon) Thuente, Fort Atkinson, IA. Nieces and nephews: Paula Prescott, Terry (Ann) Goza, Tamara (Dave) Melde, Vicki (Tony) Daugherty, Wade (Jennifer) Thuente, Tim (Kris) Thuente, Tyler Thuente, Emily Thuente, Eric (Amy) Thuente, Nicole (Lloyd) Kuennen and Marcus Thuente. Great nieces and nephews: Colton & Landon Goza, Joshua & Justin Melde, Evan & Blake Daugherty, Hannah Thuente, Lindsey & Hailey Thuente. Bev was preceded in death by her grandparents: Joseph & Edwina Thuente and John & Minnie Winter; and one niece, Karla Thuente.
